VALIDITY: The important aspect of sampling for dollar errors is that it determines an accurate and precise estimate of the total population dollars in-error. This requires that the sample size be sufficiently large to cause the margin of error of the estimated total dollars in-error to be acceptably small. Also, the method of selecting the sample and calculating the calculated margin of error must be statistically correct.
