High yield afftects AQL

In our production facility, AQL sample size is pre-calculated based on the theoretical yield of a lot during run preparation. However, occasionally when a yield exceeds the theoretical lot size, the AQL sample size increases. In many cases, this is not evident until the lot is near completion. So, what we do is inspect a much larger sample size at the end of the run to satisfy the changed AQL. Is this really necessary (do the "rules" of AQL allow any variance, like 90-110% of the theoretical lot size)? In many production environments yield can greatly exceed the standard (during an exceptionally efficient run, for example). Greatly increasing the sample size during the last inspection to satisfy the changed AQL doesn't seem valuable. Is there any way around this?
