We have to build units in a new product development process at different design phases like, Design Feasiblity build, Design confirmation build, Pre Pilot build and Pilot build. These units will be tested for reliability. And also we have MTBF target for each builds and Confidence Level (CL), Design feasiblity->MTBF=2.9->CL=50% Design confirmation->MTBF=3.8-> CL=70% Prepilot->MTBF=4.2->CL=80% Pilot->MTBF=5.0->CL=90% I need to estimate sample size for each build based on MTBF target and confidence level. Hope this answers your question. Is it possible to determine sample size based on MTBF target and Confidence Level? Thanks, Augustian
