I have to design a sampling plan for glass bottles where the dimensions of the bottles will be tested.The dimension of each bottle has to be in certain limits for it to run smoothly on the machine. Since the dimension can be measured as a variable, I can use a variables sampling plan. My question is can I have an attributes plan for this test wherein a bottle falling within the limits will be deemed nondefective and a bottle falling out of the range as defective? Which type of plan would be better here, variables or attributes?
