Using the Same Sample for Several Defects

I came across someone who collects the same sample, 1250 product units, to inspect for three independent product defects, each defect having the same AQL value. When the reject number is reached for a given defect, the incoming lot fails for that defect and the inspection continues for the remaining defects. A given product unit can be counted as failing for a specific defect and passing for another defect. Has anyone encountered this? Can this be acceptable practice?
